Sierra Investment Fund

The Sierra Investment Fund (SIF) is ManoCap's first fund, and will invest in new and existing businesses in Sierra Leone.

Underlying the creation of the Fund is the belief that meeting development goals is impossible without investing in profitable businesses. As a result MonoCap's target is to maximise returns to investors and in doing so, invest in sustainable businesses that create wealth and jobs for Sierra Leone's entrepreneurs and people.

The Fund will also look to have positive impact on the business environment in which it invests by ensuring that all investee companies meet our business principles.

Our Investment Strategy

The Fund will invest up to GBP 750,000 in new or existing businesses in Sierra Leone.

The investment strategy will be guided by the following criteria. We will:

  • Focus on growth investments (although not exclude buyouts, seed or restructuring investments).
  • Prioritise management teams that have a demonstrated track record of successfully doing business in Sierra Leone.
  • Prioritise the Agriculture and Agro-Processing; Fisheries; Construction; Tourism; Light Manufacturing, Services and the Financial Services sectors.
  • Work with other investors to share the risk of specific investments.
  • Where possible, ensure synergies across our investment portfolio.
  • Invest in businesses that have a clear path for exit.
